How Amazon Brand Registry Works

Amazon offers no shortage of programs and tools designed to help its sellers succeed on the platform. Among these programs is Amazon Brand Registry—a program meant to give brand owners more control over how their products are displayed and sold on the site.

What Is Amazon Brand Registry?

Amazon Brand Registry was introduced to help brand owners better protect their intellectual property on the platform. This purpose is accomplished via a dedicated team accessible only to Amazon Brand Registry members that is responsible for identifying and addressing IP infringement claims. 


Amazon Brand Registry Requirements

The Amazon Brand Registry program is not open to all Amazon sellers. In order to qualify, you will need to 1) demonstrate a live registered trademark that appears on your product and/or the product's packaging—2) as well as the ability to verify that you are indeed the owner of the trademark. Other requirements for joining the program will vary by country, but owning a trademark on your product(s) is the primary requirement for joining the program in the United States.


Amazon Brand Registry Benefits

The ability to quickly escalate IP infringement claims to a dedicated team is the main benefit of the program. However, Amazon Brand Registry also comes with additional benefits as well:

  •  Members are given increased control over their product listing and how it is displayed on the site, and they’re allowed to add to or delete any content that they see fit on the listing. If a rogue seller were to somehow hop on your listing, the Brand Registered seller would be able to file a claim and have the rogue seller removed. 
  • Members are also able to decide which third-party vendors are allowed to sell their trademarked products and which ones are not. 
  • Amazon Brand Registry gives its members access to specific marketing tools, such as Brand Analytics, that are not available to other Amazon sellers. These tools can help brands look at a set of prepared data and help them better make decisions as they move forward selling on the Amazon marketplace. 
  • Benefits also include the potential for increased sales and an overall improvement in your Amazon experience.


How to Get Amazon Brand Registry

If you meet the Amazon Brand Registry requirements, joining the program is a simple and straightforward process. Simply visit the Amazon Brand Registry page to begin the enrollment process. Afterward, you will be required to fill out a questionnaire that will then be submitted to Amazon for approval.
